Spring Graduate SUMMERVILLE BOY Wins Gr.1 Tolworth Hurdle

Spring Sale graduate SUMMERVILLE BOY became Goffs UK’s fourth Gr.1 winner from the last three weeks of racing when claiming Saturday’s Gr.1 32 Red Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown for trainer Tom George and owner Roger Brookhouse.

A six-year-old son of Sandmason, Summerville Boy won his debut Bumper at Killarney in May 2017 and following three consecutive placings, connections were hopeful of better ground and a good pace leading into Saturday’s race and with conditions to suit, Summerville Boy duly delivered under an impressed Noel Fehily.

Tom George commented after the race that "he's a very strong traveller and a quick horse and we knew if it was a true gallop he'd settle better and it all fell our way on the big day." George also commented that a race at the Cheltenham Festival was to be discussed with owner Roger Brookhouse.

Summerville Boy was purchased by Roger Brookhouse from the draft of Sam Curling’s Skehanagh Stables at the 2017 Goffs UK Spring HIT/P2P Sale for £130,000.
