Director Stuart Mactaggart was brought up on his parent’s farm on the outskirts of Hawick and spent his early years progressing through the Pony Club and Hunting field. He attended Sedbergh School where he played for an unbeaten 1st XV Rugby team. Upon leaving school he worked as an assistant trainer for John Wilson in Ayr before moving to Lambourn where he was assistant trainer to Nick Gaselee for seven years and attended Witney College to gain a qualification in Stud and Stable Husbandry. He has had several rides under NH rules as an amateur and rode his brother’s first winner, Cheeny’s Brig, in an amateur riders hurdle race at Perth. He also rode in several Point-to-Point’s in the Northern area.

Stuart moved back to Hawick in 1990 and began working for Goffs UK as a pedigree researcher. He was appointed Company secretary in 1997 and became a Director alongside his cousin Jeremy in 2006. Stuart is responsible for catalogue production, credit control and is also a member of the Goffs UK inspection team.

Stuart other interests include Golf, Rugby and helping on local shoots during the winter.
