£100,000 Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper Announced for 2023

Following on from the record breaking Doncaster Spring Store Sale last year, Goffs UK are pleased to announce that the Spring Sale Bumper will make a return in 2023 at Newbury Racecourse with an increased prize fund of £100,000 and the introduction of the new Bumper Bonus prize scheme.

The 2023 Spring Sale Bumper will be held at Newbury’s Jump Season Finale fixture on Saturday 25 March (subject to confirmation of the 2023 fixtures list by the BHA). The prize money of £100,000 has been doubled from £50,000 and in addition, the bumper will offer a new incentive next year, the Bumper Bonus.

Based on the recently launched Premier Prizes, which was awarded as part of the Premier Yearling Stakes at York last year, the Bumper Bonus will see Goffs UK extend their partnership with leading horse box manufacturer, Theault, and award the bumper winning trainer a free six-month lease of a two-stall horse box. The Bumper Bonus will also award the vendor of the winning horse a generous bespoke wine package from leading wine merchant Charles Murphy Wines.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

“Increasing the Spring Sale Bumper to £100,000 has been an ambition of ours for some time and we would like to extend our thanks to Julian Thick and the Newbury Racecourse Executive for helping us to make this happen. We had our best ever Spring Store Sale last year and we felt now is the ideal time to invest more in the race and give our buyers a big pot to aim their purchases at.

“The bumper has always been very well supported throughout its history and we hope that the new £100,000 prize fund, plus the Bumper Bonus incentives from Theault and Charles Murphy Wines, will make for a very attractive race next year.”

Julian Thick, Chief Executive for Newbury Racecourse added:

“We are really delighted to be able to host the return of the new and improved Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper, at the increased £100,000 prize fund. This is a significant injection of prizemoney for the race, and with Goffs as valuable partners, we are committed to working alongside them to raise the profile of this highly valuable race and our final Jumps fixture of the season in 2023.”
