Brilliant Laurens Wins her Sixth Group 1 in the Prix Rothschild

Doncaster Premier Sale graduate and Classic winner Laurens returned to her brilliant best yesterday with a tough, front running performance to land the Gr.1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville, her sixth Group 1 victory.

The Daughter of Siyouni won, among her four Group 1 races last season at three, the Gr.1 Prix de Diane Longines at Chantilly and the Gr.1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown. She resumed the current season with an eye-catching second in the Gr.1 Lockinge Stakes and came into yesterday’s race following a small break after her Royal Ascot outing. Trainer Karl Burke commented that the Breeders’ Cup meeting later in the year is on the agenda, as is a return to the Matron Stakes in September.

Laurens is raced by owner John Dance and was purchased at the 2016 Doncaster Premier Sale by Salcey Forest Stud from the Coulonces Consignment for £220,000. She has now earned over £1.7 million in stakes earnings.

The catalogue for the 2019 Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster will be released online tomorrow at and will be sent out this week.
