Classic Glory for Laurens & Premier Sale

Star filly LAURENS and her connections now have a much-deserved Classic to their names as the 3YO produced an outstanding performance to land the Group 1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly yesterday, prompting the team to aim her at the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe later in the season.

Laurens showed she was all heart and her unbeatable determination to win saw her hold off a quality field of fillies from two-furlongs out to deliver a maiden Classic victory for her trainer Karl Burke, owner John Dance and jockey PJ McDonald. The race was her third victory at Group 1 level following her 2YO Group 1 win in the Fillies’ Mile and the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary on her last start. She also finished a gallant second in the Group 1 1000 Guineas last month.

Connections have stated that the Group 1 Irish Oaks is now on the agenda, as is the Yorkshire Oaks, before a possible tilt at the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

Laurens is the latest star to emerge from the Goffs UK Premier Sale at Doncaster with other headline graduates currently including the reigning Cartier Champion Sprinter HARRY ANGEL who lines up at Royal Ascot this week.

A daughter of the in-form sire Siyouni, Laurens was offered by Anna Sundstrom’s Coulonces Sales and was purchased by Daniel Creighton & Josh Schwartz of Salcey Forest Stud on behalf of owner John Dance for £220,000. She has now won over £1.2 million in stakes earnings.
