Doncaster Yearlings Deliver So Much – and Now Offer Something Extra…

A quality line-up of 400 lots have been catalogued for the 2021 Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster which will offer horses by many of Europe’s leading breeders, consignors and sires.

The Doncaster Premier Sale will commence at 10am on Tuesday 24 August with Lots 1 – 220, with day two on Wednesday 25 August offering Lots 220 – 400 from 10am. The Doncaster Silver Yearling Sale will also be held on the Wednesday immediately following the Premier Yearling Sale and the Silver catalogue is also online to view.

The Doncaster Premier Sale has had another successful year on the track having seen the likes of DREAM OF DREAMS continue the sale’s fine record in Royal Ascot’s top sprints with victory in the Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee. Last season saw SUPREMACY cement his place among the elite 2YOs with a smart win in the Gr.1 Middle Park Stakes and the sale’s 2YOs have made a strong start to the current season, closing in on 50 individual juvenile winners already, and headed by the likes of ZAIN CLAUDETTE who claimed the weekend’s Gr.3 Princess Margaret Keeneland Stakes at Ascot.

Other headline horses include smart 3YOs ROHAAN, whose victories this season include Royal Ascot’s Wokingham Stakes as well as the Gr.2 Sandy Lane Stakes, and HAPPY ROMANCE, winner of last season’s Premier Yearling Stakes at York, whose multiple Stakes victories this year feature the Gr.3 Hackwood Stakes. The sale’s 3YO ranks have also seen two fillies produce Classic performances: Group 2 winner FEV ROVER running a brave third in the Gr.1 1000 Guineas and Stakes winner MYSTERY ANGEL a storming second in the Gr.1 Oaks.

Once again, the sale features well-bred yearlings from leading thoroughbred families and some of the many highlights to be offered in the 2021 catalogue are:

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented on the 2021 catalogue:

“From the coveted European 2YO races to Royal Ascot’s most famed contests, international Group 1 sprints to the Classics, this sale has celebrated recent winners in them all, a clear demonstration as to the ever-increasing class of horse this sale is producing. And that class is expanding from the track to the covering sheds and breeding paddocks – a crucial element required by all top-level yearling sales. The likes of Acclamation, Dark Angel and rising star Wootton Bassett have paved the way for recent top colts including Golden Horde, Advertise and Harry Angel, the latter of which has his first yearlings in the sale this year.

“The sale is also making its mark with its fillies. Multiple Group 1 victress and Classic winner Laurens, who celebrated her first foal this year, is the sale’s obvious star and this season has seen more fillies prove their worth with the Group 2 winner Fev Rover and Stakes winner Mystery Angel both achieving Classic placings in the 1000 Guineas and Oaks respectively, highlighting their class and the sale’s ongoing ability to produce.

“These are just a few examples of what can be found at the Doncaster Premier Sale and what, once again, awaits buyers at this year’s sale. Further incentive for 2021 is the launch of the all-new Premier Prizes, a unique new scheme which will see the winning owners of the Premier Yearling Stakes win a free horse from Goffs UK, along with a hospitality package from York Racecourse, and the winning trainer a free six-month lease of a two-stall horsebox from Theault*. The first Premier Prizes will be awarded at this year’s race on 19 August so the winning owners will be able to bid on their free horse at this year’s sale.

“The launch of the Premier and Silver Sale catalogues is always something we look forward to and especially this year as we take a positive step after a difficult 2020. We will be marketing these sales worldwide via our vast international network of Goffs agents and are very much looking forward to welcoming everyone to Doncaster on 24 – 25 August.”
