The main catalogue for the Goffs UK Spring HIT/PTP Sale is now available to view online and features 450 entries which will be offered over two days on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 May. The sale will be taking supplementary entries between now and the week of the sale.
The Doncaster Spring HIT/PTP Sale will follow the two-day Spring Store Sale and has had a blue-ribbon year with its graduates headlined by two Grade 1 winners in GOOD LAND and the champion CONSTITUTION HILL. Now unbeaten in seven starts, Constitution Hill shapes as arguably the finest horse to have ever come from the Spring Sale since its inception in 1962 and is a timely reminder as to the quality of horse that can be found at Doncaster.
The opening day on Wednesday will be dedicated to point-to-pointers and young form horses and has already attracted over 200 entries with all the leading point-to-point handlers represented. This day will be further enhanced by the addition of supplementary entries and some of the early highlights include:
The second and final day will be dedicated to Horses-in-Training, and it has a strong mix of promising younger horses, proven performers and some attractive breeding opportunities. Gordon Elliot has the largest draft with 24 entries which feature Music Drive (Lot 639), a lightly raced hurdle winner who recently placed second in a Gr.2 Novices’ Hurdle, Jay Jay Zee (Lot 643), a son of Jukebox Jury who won his debut hurdle on his only start, and So Des Flos (Lot 738), a half-brother to Vision Des Flos who won his maiden hurdle on his most recent start.
Dan Skelton is another with a large draft of 14 entries which features The King Of Ryhope (Lot 703), another lightly raced hurdle winner who recently placed third in a Gr.2 Novices’ Hurdle. The Dai Walters Partial Dispersal will also offer a large draft, featuring 25 lots which will be offered without reserve, and they include last start winners Tzarmix (Lot 722), Grey Diamond (Lot 724) and Jazz King (Lot 727). The final day will also feature the annual Million In Mind draft as well as a partial dispersal from Mike Grech. Other trainers with drafts in the sale include Alan King, Ben Pauling, David Pipe, Donald McCain, Emma Lavelle, Evan Williams, Henry De Bromhead, Jonjo O'Neill, Iain Jardine, Ian Williams, Lucinda Russell, Margaret Mullins, Neil Mulholland, Nicky Henderson, Nigel Twiston-Davies, Oliver Sherwood, Olly Murphy, Paul Nicholls, Philip Hobbs, Tom George, Warren Greatrex etc. The sale will offer some well-bred fillies and mares which include the Gr.3 winning Doctor Dino mare Gin On Lime (Lot 741), Dream Shadow (Lot 441), a debut winning 4YO pointer who is a half-sister to the Gr.2 winners Shadow Eile and Corskeagh Royale, and Flying Nun (Lot 698), a three-time winning Robin des Champs half-sister to the Gr.2 winner Angels Breath. The Dai Walters Partial Dispersal will also offer some attractive mares including the Gr.2 placed Great Snow (Lot 682) who hails from a black-type family, and La Pagerie (Lot 683) who is a half-sister to the Gr.1 winner Whisper. Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented: “Success on the racecourse is the ultimate barometer of any sale and the incomparable Constitution Hill is the very best reminder of what can be found at the time-honoured Spring Sale. In addition to the Champion hurdler, Corach Rambler is another graduate of our PTP sales who went on to win this year’s Grand National and both horses help to identify the quality and diversity which is found at Goffs UK. “Following on from this success, we are delighted with the catalogue for this year’s sale which contains more horses than previous years and some quality individuals which provide a very good mix of young promise, proven talent and breeding potential. We have also catalogued some outstanding initial entries for the point-to-point day and we will be supplementing more high-class pointers into the sale as the meetings take place in the UK and Ireland over the coming fortnight. “So, with large drafts from the leading owners and trainers, high-class pointers, the annual Million In Mind Dispersal and a 25 horse unreserved partial dispersal from leading owner Dai Walters, there is so much here for buyers and we look forward to welcoming the NH world to Doncaster in two weeks.” Supplementary catalogues for the Doncaster Spring HIT/PTP Sale will be available onsite and if you wish to discuss late entries, please contact Goffs UK on +44 (0)1450 372222.
