Grand National Entry Ballyoptic Confirmed for Goffs Online March Sale

Entries for the Goffs Online March Sale are due early this week and among those confirmed to be offered is Ballyoptic who is assured a start in the world’s most famous Steeple Chase, the Randox Grand National. Final entries can be made online here.

The catalogue for the Goffs Online March Sale will be published online this Friday and will feature horses-in-training, breeding stock, stores and young stock which are headed by Ballyoptic. Trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies, the 11yo has won nine races under rules with his victories including the Gr.1 Sefton Novices' Hurdle, Gr.2 Towton Novices' Chase and Gr.2 Charlie Hall Chase. The son of Old Vic has won over £340,000 in Stakes earnings and gives prospective new owners the unique opportunity to buy a live chance in the Randox Grand National on 10 April.

Goffs have a proud and proven record of selling Grand National winners having sold 35 winners of the race including three-time winner Red Rum and dual winner Tiger Roll.

The Goffs Online March Sale will be a timed sale meaning Goffs offer the catalogue without an auctioneer over a set period of time with all bids being made through Goffs Online. The timed online sale concept made a successful debut for Goffs last autumn when The Aga Khan’s Ebendi sold for €165,000 whilst this year’s January Sale produced the three highest prices achieved by any online sale in the UK and Ireland in 2021: £300,000 for the debut bumper winner Hollymount, £170,000 for the dual Grade 1 winner La Bague Au Roi and £125,000 for the well-related mare Buck's Bee.

The catalogue for the Goffs Online March Sale will be published online only this Friday 12 March (there will be no printed catalogue). Registrations to bid online will open Wednesday 17 March and those wishing to bid online must register with Goffs no later than Monday 22 March.
