Happy Romance Takes Smart Win in Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes

Class filly Happy Romance continued her winning ways at York today, following up her win in the Weatherbys Super Sprint with an eye-catching victory in the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes.

The 2YO daughter of Dandy Man extended her trainer Richard Hannon’s record in the race, giving him his fourth victory in the past five years. Hannon was quick to praise the filly commenting “she is a very good filly. Physically she has done very well, she has progressively got better and better all year and she will get seven furlongs.

“We will be looking at the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes and there is also the Group 3 Firth of Clyde over six furlongs for fillies. Next year I’ll bet we’ll see her in the Fred Darling at Newbury in April.”

Happy Romance is the first horse to be raced by new owners the McMurray Family and was offered by Redpender Stud at last year’s Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale where she was purchased by Peter and Ross Doyle Bloodstock who have bought all four of Richard Hannon’s Premier Yearling Stakes winners. Finishing second in the race was Devious Company for trainer Tom Dascombe with Out of the Hat in third for Jedd O'Keeffe.

The catalogue for the 2020 Doncaster Premier Sale is now online and will offer a superb catalogue of 423 yearlings on 1 – 2 September.
