It’s back! Superb Initial Entries for Goffs UK Aintree Sale

The Goffs UK Aintree Sale is set to make a much-anticipated return at next week’s Randox Grand National Festival after a forced two-year absence and it will offer a high-class select catalogue of pointers and form horses on Thursday 7 April after racing in the winner’s enclosure. The initial 24 entries are now online.

The Aintree Sale made its debut in 2016 and from just four select sales, it has produced a stunning five Grade 1 winners already in SAMCRO, BLACK OP, TOPOFTHEGAME, LISNAGAR OSCAR and FIDDLERONTHEROOF, the latter of which will contest the feature race of the festival this year – the Grand National. The sale was sadly suspended in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID pandemic.

The first batch of entries for this year’s sale features a superb line-up and one of the headline lots for 2022 will be the multiple Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 winner PUT THE KETTLE ON (Lot 1). An 8YO daughter of Stowaway, her nine career victories for Henry De Bromhead include wins in the Gr.1 Arkle Novices' Chase & famously the first mare to win the Gr.1 Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Additional entries will be published in the build-up to the sale and other headline lots for the 2022 Aintree Sale include:

  • 3, Townhill (4YO G by Presenting), the 20-length winner of his debut P2P for Sam Curling at Loughrea.
  • 6, Harjo (5YO G by Yeats), the seven-length winner of his most recent P2P for Stuart Crawford at Portrush.
  • 7, Act Of Authority (4YO G by Authorized), the impressive winner of his debut P2P for Ellmarie Holden at Lisronagh.
  • 10, Hurricane Highway (4YO G by Malinas), the 10-length winner of his debut P2P for Cormac Farrell at Liscarroll.
  • 11, Fancy Girl (4YO F by Champs Elysees), winner of her debut P2P for Cormac Doyle at Ballyragget.
  • 14, Encanto Bruno (4YO G by Mahler), winner of his debut P2P for Colin Motherway at Ballynoe.
  • 17, Deep Cave (4YO G by Court Cave), the six-length winner of his debut P2P for Ciaran Murphy at Belclare.
  • 20, Classic Anthem (4YO G Affinisea), the smart winner of his debut P2P for Robert James at Monksgrange.
  • 21, Magical Zoe (4YO F by Shantou), the six-length winner of her debut bumper for Barry Fitzgerald at Cork.

The catalogue for the 2022 Goffs UK Aintree Sale will be printed next week and will be available at the sale at Aintree Racecourse. Inspections for the sale will open from 1pm next Wednesday 6 April and open all day on Thursday 7 April with the sale to be held in the winner’s enclosure after racing.
