Group winning 2YO and last season’s Group 1 Irish Derby second Lone Eagle is the latest high-profile horse to sell on Goffs Online this year, selling today to Ballylinch Stud for £300,000.
The 4YO son of Galileo has proven a top-class prospect during his career having beaten the likes of Kyprios in his Group 3 Zetland Stakes win as a 2YO and then subsequent Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Yibir last season in the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes. Lone Eagle was offered by his trainers Freddie & Martyn Meade to dissolve a partnership and was purchased outright by Ballylinch Stud.
Ballylinch’s Managing Director John O’Connor commented on the online sale:
“The whole online sale process with Goffs Online was very easy. It’s a user-friendly platform which is simple to operate and it makes for an efficient way to sell and purchase horses.”
Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby commented on the result:
“The Goffs Online service has had a strong year and this is another great result which shows the platform’s ability to be ready to host sales of high-profile bloodstock whenever clients need it. We have reserved the use of our Goffs Online timed sales for high-end horses and breeding rights and with Lone Eagle’s £300,000 result, following the mares Queen Of The Stage and Quilita selling for £340,000 and €205,000 respectively this year, it clearly demonstrates its ability to cater for elite bloodstock whilst our superb Online team led by Michael Hardy in Goffs and Michael Orton in the UK stand ready to assist sellers at a moment’s notice.”
Goffs’ next online auction will be a timed sale of Breeding Rights and Breeding Stock which will be held on Tuesday 13 December. For all sale enquiries, please contact Goffs on +353 (0)45 88 66 00 or Goffs UK on +44 (0)1450 372222.
