The Goffs UK Spring Store Sale produced another record-breaking day today at Doncaster as it set a new British record top price for a store with Goldford Stud’s Blue Bresil filly selling for £210,000.
Out of the Grade 2 placed Presenting mare Petticoat Tails (Lot 75), the filly surpassed the previous British record of £200,000 set at this sale last year, when selling to Highflyer Bloodstock and Jerry McGrath. The Aston’s Goldford Stud have an excellent record at the Doncaster Spring Store Sale, having produced the sale topper on 10 occasions, including for five consecutive years from 1997 to 2001. It was a poignant moment for the Aston family given the sad passing of Richard at the end of last month and the wonderful celebration of his life at Goldford Stud last week.
Other lots to feature in today’s session included Galbertstown Stables’ Walk In The Park gelding (Lot 62) which sold to Kevin Ross Bloodstock and Harry Fry for £95,000, Brown Island Stables’ Kamsin half-brother to the Grade 1 winner Roll On Has (Lot 101) which was knocked down to the bid of Tom Malone and Jamie Snowden for £85,000 and Ballincurrig House Stud’s Cokoriko gelding (Lot 72) which was purchased by Ryan Mahon for £82,000. The second and final day of the Doncaster Spring Store Sale will commence tomorrow at 11am.
