New Record Heads Two-Day Doncaster Spring Store Sale

The 2023 Goffs UK Spring Store Sale came to a successful close today and following a new British record price yesterday, saw another four lots make six-figure sums in a busy Doncaster ring.

Yesterday’s top lot, a £210,000 Blue Bresil filly which set a new British record for a store, remained unbeaten and in the process gave her consignors Goldford Stud their 11th sale topping store at this sale. Topping today’s proceedings late in the session was Moanmore Stables’ No Risk At All gelding (Lot 271) who hails from the family of Grade 1 winners Stormy Ireland, Stormy River and Silverwave, and was sold to Monbeg Stables for £125,000.

Earlier in the day it was a pair of Walk In The Parks that held top billing, with Oak Tree Farm’s gelding (Lot 199) which hails from the family of graded winners Cooldine and Blow By Blow, selling to Highflyer Bloodstock for £115,000, and Park Farm’s gelding (Lot 161), who is out of an own sister to the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Lord Windermere, and was knocked down to Monbeg Stables for £100,000.

Peter Nolan Bloodstock’s Doctor Dino half-sister to the Grade 1 winner Quel Destin (Lot 275) was another to feature later in the session when being purchased by Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls for £105,000.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

"A record top price and a record equalling number of six-figure prices are the obvious headline stories of the last two days but the moment we will all remember for years to come is the outstanding £210,000 achieved for Goldford Stud’s Blue Bresil filly during yesterday’s session. This was a new British record for a store, and it was a wonderful result for the Aston family given the sad passing of Richard just a few weeks ago. They have enjoyed incredible success at this sale over the years and they have topped the sale on eleven occasions, so it was a fitting tribute to Richard that they broke the record once again in Doncaster.

"Away from the top of the market, trade has been a little more selective but vendors have been realistic with their expectations which has helped to contribute to a very respectable clearance rate of 81%. Along with the launch of our new £100,000 Spring Sale Bumper in March, which is now the World’s Richest Bumper, it has been another successful chapter for the Doncaster Spring Store Sale and we look forward to continuing the action tomorrow as we kick off the Spring HIT/PTP Sale from 10am.”
