The Leading 2YO Sale – Premier Yearling Sale Catalogue Now Online

A high-class selection of 433 hand-picked yearlings have been catalogued for the 2022 Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster (23 – 24 August) which features the progeny of many of Europe’s leading sires and siblings to some of the elite 2YOs of the current season.

At the time of releasing this year’s catalogue, the Doncaster Premier Sale is once again Europe’s leading sale for 2YO winners sold this season with 43 thus far, a significant achievement given it’s not numerically the largest yearling sale, and a clear demonstration of its proven ability to produce winners. Among those numerous 2YOs is an emerging star in ISAAC SHELBY who graces the front cover of this year’s catalogue following his victory in the Gr.2 Superlative Stakes.

This year’s catalogue features siblings to two elite 2YOs, an Al Kazeem half-brother to Isaac Shelby (Lot 75) and a Ulysses half-brother to this season’s Gr.2 Coventry Stakes winner BRADSELL (Lot 213) who was sold at the Doncaster Breeze Up Sale.

A total of 13 Premier graduates have won at Stakes level thus far this season including the 3YO EL CABALLO who claimed six consecutive wins, culminating with victory in the Gr.2 Sandy Lane Stakes, and the catalogue will also feature a sibling to him, a Havana Grey half-sister (Lot 234). Other 3YO Premier graduates to feature on the track include the Classic winner SWIPE UP who raced to victory in the Italian 1000 Guineas and MALAVATH who claimed the Gr.3 Prix Imprudence at Deauville.

All yearlings sold will be eligible for entry in next year’s £250,000 Harry Beeby Premier Yearling Stakes which has been rebranded this year in honour of the Company’s late Chairman. The unique Premier Prizes, offered for the first-time last year, will be again be attached to this year’s race at York in August, awarding a free horse and a York hospitality package to the winning owners, as well as a free six-month lease of a two-stall horsebox to the winning trainer from Theault. Last year’s Premier Yearling Stakes winner EVER GIVEN became the race’s 11th subsequent Stakes winner when taking the Listed Surrey Stakes at Epsom in June. Other previous winners of the race include such luminaries as Dark Angel, Acclamation, Wootton Bassett and the exciting first season sire Tasleet, all of which are represented with yearlings in this year’s catalogue. 2022 will also see yearlings from the first crop of Advertise, a star graduate of this sale whose victories included the Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes and Commonwealth Cup.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

“The Premier Sale has a long history of 2YO success and the fact that it’s currently the leading sale for 2YO winners sold this season thus far is a huge achievement given last year’s sale catalogued less than half that of some of the larger yearling sales on the calendar. That statistic clearly highlights Premier’s enduring reputation of producing early winners, and high-class ones at that headed by Isaac Shelby.

“The Doncaster yearling ethos has always been to focus on quality, precocity and athleticism and we have very much stayed true to that mantra when inspecting yearlings with our vendors and compiling this catalogue. The result is another selection of sharp, commercial 2YO types of quality and we are looking forward to presenting the Class of 22 to buyers. We have also amassed a strong representation from leading sires with yearlings by Frankel, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, Night Of Thunder and Wootton Bassett along with sizable numbers from the likes of Dark Angel, Kodiac, Showcasing etc., ensuring plenty of quality across the two-days.

“The next few weeks will see us market this catalogue to a global audience and we look forward to welcoming buyers to Doncaster from around the world on 23 – 24 August.”
