Three New Year’s Day Cheltenham Graded Winners

Goffs UK graduates made the best possible start to 2020 with New Year’s Day racing at Cheltenham seeing three take wins at Graded level - Midnight Shadow, Oldgrangewood (also sold at the Goffs Land Rover Sale) and Summerville Boy

MIDNIGHT SHADOW was the first of the three to claim Graded success in the Gr.2 Paddy Power Broken Resolutions Already Dipper Novices' Chase for trainer Sue Smith and owner Mrs Aafke Clarke. The win was Midnight Shadow’s sixth of his smart career to date and his third at Graded level following victories in the Gr.2 Relkeel Hurdle at this meeting last year and the Gr.2 Scottish Champion Hurdle.

OLDGRANGEWOOD took his sixth career win under rules and his first at Graded level with victory in the Gr.3 Paddy Power Handicap Chase for trainer Dan Skelton and owners Chris & Sandra Giles. He has now won back-to-back races having been successful in a Class 2 at Newbury in November.

SUMMERVILLE BOY capped off the Graded triple with victory in the Gr.2 Dornan Engineering Relkeel Hurdle for trainer Tom George and owner Roger Brookhouse. The win caps a successful return to Graded level success following his smart win in the Gr.1 Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival.
