Two Stores Share Top Billing at Doncaster Summer Sale

The second day of the Doncaster Summer Sale saw a full day of 192 Spring Stores on offer with selling producing a solid start to the major UK and Irish NH store sales.

The session produced joint sale toppers with both coming early in the day. Lot 25 was the first to reach today’s top figure with Evan Williams and Willy Twiston-Davies, bidding on behalf of Twiston-Davies Equine, exchanging bids from an early stage with the latter coming out on top, purchasing the Lakefield Farm consigned son of Diamond Boy for £80,000.

The action continued with the next horse in the ring, Lot 26, a son of Soldier of Fortune out of a Flemensfirth half-sister to the dam of the Gr.1 winner and Goffs UK Aintree Sale graduate BLACK OP. The Ballincurrig House Stud consigned gelding could subsequently be running in the same colours as his relation after being snapped up by Shaun Brookhouse for £80,000.

Battlefield Stud’s Midnight Legend filly (Lot 35) also proved popular amongst bidders with Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock going to £70,000 to secure the daughter of the Listed winning mare ANNIE’S ANSWER.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

“Selling NH Stores at the end of July was not something that we would have predicted when we were inspecting the horses for today’s sale, and the widely publicised events that have led to this week’s sale schedule have been a challenge for all attendees, but the wait has been worthwhile and we are delighted with today’s trade.

“Yesterday’s session was the perfect way to start the store sales season and set the tone for today, which has returned as vibrant a trade as we could have hoped for at the start of the week. We are grateful to all participants for their patience and understanding in the build up to this sale and we wish all buyers the best of luck with their new purchases. But the real praise is reserved for the vendors, who have worked with us to ensure that this revised schedule has delivered results that are more than acceptable given the delays that everyone had to endure.

“Our focus now turns to the Land Rover Sale in just over two weeks’ time and which features an excellent selection of top-class NH stores.”

The Doncaster Summer Sale will continue tomorrow from 10am with day three offering the August Sale Store entries by sires including Black Sam Bellamy, Blue Bresil, Fame And Glory, Flemensfirth, Gentlewave, Getaway, Kayf Tara, Midnight Legend, Milan, Norse Dancer, Shirocco, Telescope, Walk In The Park, Westerner etc.

This will be immediately followed by Summer HIT/P2P Sale which will feature the dedicated P2P/Form Horse Session and the highly anticipated annual Million in Mind Dispersal.
