Miss Heritage Tops Doncaster August Sale

A diverse catalogue of NH stock was offered at today’s Goffs UK August Sale at Doncaster with the day seeing the Grade 2 winning mare Miss Heritage top proceedings at £78,000.

Offered by WH Bloodstock, the 8YO mare (Lot 166) claimed her Grade 2 victory in the Yorkshire Rose Mares' Hurdle at Doncaster in January before being covered by the exciting sire Nathaniel and was knocked down to the bid of Richard Venn Bloodstock and DahlBury. Simon Davies, the co-founder of DahlBury, was also active at the Aintree Sale earlier this year when securing the Grade 1 winning mare Put The Kettle On.

Three lots surpassed the £50,000 mark today; the others being Wilson Dennison’s debut winning pointer Townhill (Lot 101) who was sold to Ed Bailey for £60,000 and Aidan FitzGerald’s winning pointer Tara Line, a daughter of Kayf Tara (Lot 111), which was purchased by Syd Hosie and Gay Kelleway for £50,000.

The sale offered new sessions for NH 2YOs and mares, the latter of which also saw Cobhall Court Stud’s 6YO mare Motiva (Lot 168A), offered in foal to Bangkok with a Planteur colt foal at foot, sell to Bobby O'Ryan for £40,000.

Following today’s sale, Goffs will be offering another opportunity to secure a high-class NH mare with Quilita, dam of the dual Grade 1 winner Quilixios, to be offered on Goffs online next Tuesday 9 August. View the sale here

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented on this year’s August Sale:

“The August Sale offers something for all NH owners, trainers, breeders and pinhookers and we introduced two new sessions to enhance it in 2022.  The small selection of NH mares was well received by the market and were likely bought to support the many new NH stallions available in the UK. The new 2YO session, which was introduced to support the new BHA/TBA junior hurdle series, is a concept which we believe will grow as the new series develops over the coming seasons.

“Trainers and pinhookers can also benefit from our other sale of NH 2YOs, the Yorton Sale, for which the catalogue has just been released and will offer a quality line up of 46 entries - 17 of which are by the leading sire Blue Bresil. The Yorton Sale is now an established event on the European sale calendar, it has produced some fantastic pinhooking and race results from only three sales, and we look forward to joining the Yorton team in Wales on 8 September.”
