This big, scopey gelding, an AQPS-bred son of Ask, won Britain’s first ever four-year-olds’ only point-to-point which was run over two and a half miles recently at Chaddesley Corbett in Worcestershire. Making his racing debut he made all the running, jumped fluently out of very soft ground and repelled his rivals to win easing down by 12 lengths. The placed horses came from top stables, with the third having run out the easy winner of a point-to-point bumper four weeks earlier. This horse’s dam – whose other foals include five-year-old Wetlands, a useful five-year-old bumper winner for trainer Nicky Richards – won a bumper herself in France and was a half-sister to four other winners, headed by Sweet My Lord, who became a Gr.3 winner over jumps in Ireland. The second dam won 13 races in France.
