With a dispersal from Gleadhill House Stud together with quality drafts from Gigginstown House Stud and Godolphin amongst others, the quality of today’s Goffs UK September HIT Sale was significantly improved from last year and trade stepped up to match the offering with a clearance rate of 91%. The Gleadhill House Stud dispersal proved a big attraction and provided the sale topper with Henry Daly’s recent Grade 3 hurdle winner Stoney Mountain (Lot 183) selling to Tom Malone and Anita Gillies for £140,000. He will now go in to training with Jamie Snowdon. The dispersal also sold the multiple winning chasers Burbank (Lot 187) to James Moffatt for £62,000 and Touch Kick (Lot 190) to Simon West for £52,000. In an impressive set of figures, the draft saw all 56 lots sold for a turnover of £1,136,200.
An annual feature of the September HIT Sale, the Gigginstown House Dispersal offered some household names and produced three of the top five lots – their best being the multiple Grade 1 winner Petit Mouchoir (Lot 169) which sold to Aidan O'Ryan and Gordon Elliott for £70,000. Grade 2 winner Dommage Pour Toi (Lot 176) was another which saw strong demand in the ring, selling to Durcan Bloodstock for £68,000, while Grade 1 winner Mengli Khan (Lot 97) also sold well when knocked down to Highflyer Bloodstock for £65,000. The Godolphin draft is always well received at Doncaster and was topped by Trebizond (Lot 157) who sold to Ted Durcan for £34,000 whilst State Crown (Lot 159) sold to Colin Bell for £24,000. Goffs’ new live online bidding facility saw plenty of action throughout the day attracting hundreds of online bids from buyers around the world which resulted in over 20 horses selling through the platform. Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:
“Today has been a big success and it’s great to finish with a clearance rate of 91% which demonstrates the huge demand for horses-in-training. The two dispersals added a great depth to the sale and we are extremely grateful to both Trevor Hemmings and Gigginstown House Stud for giving us the opportunity to sell these high class horses. “It has been a pleasure to offer some very exciting horses for Trevor Hemmings and his colours, which will still be seen on NH tracks for some time to come, will leave a lasting legacy in NH racing. The Gigginstown Dispersal has become an annual highlight at this sale and we look forward to seeing these horses run for new connections this season. "We have also welcomed large drafts from the likes of Godolphin and Gordon Elliott and we wish to extend our thanks to all our vendors and buyers – without them we are nothing. We now turn our attention to the Goffs Sportsman’s and Orby Sales and we look forward to seeing the next Lucky Vega, Galileo Chrome or Cadillac in Doncaster from next Thursday."
