Today’s Goffs UK September HIT Sale once again featured the annual Gigginstown House Stud dispersal and as in previous years, it drew a big audience to Doncaster, which drove a successful 2021 sale.

The Gigginstown House Stud dispersal was the sale’s headline draft and saw all the 39 lots offered sold for a total turnover just north of £500,000 and a top price of £42,000 for the bumper and chase winner Forged In Fire (Lot 59) which was purchased by Gordon Elliott Racing. The draft also saw the four-time hurdle winner Smoking Gun (Lot 99) knocked down to Aidan O'Ryan and Gordon Elliott for £37,000.

Today’s sale was topped by John Walsh’s Champion Irish point-to-pointer High Stakes (Lot 61), the winner of four of his five point-to-point starts who then won his bumper debut on his only start under rules. The 7YO was knocked down to Tessa Greatrex on behalf of Highflyer Bloodstock for £85,000.

Other lots to feature in today’s sale were Nigel Twiston-Davies’ dual hurdle winner Fontana Ellissi (Lot 74) which sold to Samuel Drinkwater for £40,000 and Caherty Stables’ bumper winner Enki Flacke (Lot 134) who was purchased by Aidan O'Ryan and Gordon Elliott for £40,000.

Goffs UK Managing Director Tim Kent commented:

“The annual dispersal from Gigginstown House Stud will always draw a crowd to the Goffs UK Sales Complex and this has been the case throughout the day with buyers at all levels bidding for a range of horses from a wide variety of vendors. These high-profile drafts have proven to be happy hunting grounds for those looking to buy future winners and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Michael & Eddie O’Leary for once again entrusting their draft to Goffs UK and this sale.

“It’s a busy time for the Goffs UK team as we have back-to-back sales this week with the third annual Yorton Sale to be held tomorrow from 1pm at Yorton Farm in Wales. We look forward to seeing many of today’s buyers at Yorton tomorrow and we extend our thanks to all those that were involved with today’s sale and wish everyone the best of luck with their purchases.”
